Old, small fox shock, odd mount, any better options??

That's gorgeous :D , been trying to justify buying one of these for a
94 FSR i have (which BTW has an even shorter shock), i think you
have made my mind up

Pleased to hear about the good service from Risse too

I haven't taken it out for a ride yet but I have to say, i find that from some of the reviews where people said it isn't as 'bouncy' as the old Fox shocks for example are spot on. On softest setting, it feels 'progressive' is about the only way that I can describe. Nice and linear but not pogo-like fast in it's return.

On hardest settings, the shock does compress, but it's movement feels noticeably slower, I don't believe that the overall range is decreased though. Riding over to Basingstoke on her tomorrow (road), with quite a few long, nasty hills and keeping the smoke/dart on so that will be the real test as I normally take the voodoo with 1.5" city jets on!

I probably won't get to do an off road test until next weekend at the earliest :(.

I did specifically ask Risse if they could do something regarding lowering the parcel value btw ;) and they said they would see what they could do. They valued it at about 1/3 the actual price. They forgot to stick in the Acu-fill adapter I ordered but it was over New Year and I am sure they will send it to me soon enough.

Cheers,

Nick :)

Must let us know what it is like. I rang Mojo and they said they might be able to fit pro pedal to the Fox Float :D . At least there are a couple of options now.

Hmmm
That is a nice looking piece of kit,
The shock on my SV is still working sweet as a nut, buy will be looking forward to seeing how you rate it, & will be keeping it in mind for the future ;)

Gc

Well, although it was only a 36 mile round trip, on road, the ride was very hilly. I was running about 210psi on the shock and had it set to Uphill setting. I was less than 2 mins slower each way on the Raven compared to the Voodoo, and the weather was pretty pants... I was under the impression that the damping switch was a 5 position click type job but mine certainly isn't so I am going to email Risse to double check.

It was pretty solid, even at the other end of the damping settings, it feels far more dampened/hardened on compression/slower on rebound than the Fox shock that was on there, not 100% sure that is better for offroad yet though. Climbed very well on the uphill setting, I actually feel that I climbed a number of the hills faster on this than on the Voodoo, which is running City Jets...... Although the Raven doesn't feel like a bike that flexes under load at all, the shock certainly didn't make it feel any worse, does feel very solid under out of the saddle antics.

Although I miss the 'comfy old sofa' feel of the fox, I am pretty sure this is an improvement, I just hope that it softens up a little bit more for me and I will be a most happy bunny.
