Wrong, Tazio is right. Completely different engine with nothing in common and the myth that it is a cut down Buick originated from an article in CCC back in the 80's.
There were 2 Prototype 6R4 Metros built in 83-84. One did have a cut down Buick/ Rover (the other had a complete V8 in which stuck out of back), but the engine they eventually used in the Metro (and the Jag and this Tranny) was a 100% brand new design and was built around a bespoke block cast by the TWR foundry. Designed by Dave Wood, and called the V64V, it has more in common with the Cosworth DFV. It is completely different in every way from a Buick- it even has a different angle of the V.
So double Ner
Off to get my anorak

Its like comparing a 1500 pre crossflow ford engine with a BDT. They may share some distant DNA but they are completely different in every respect.
There are very few motoring authors that actually do proper research, prefering to recycle any old garbage they read elsewhere. None of those journos will have rebuilt the engine in question, so don't take their word as gospel.
I agree that t'internet is even less accurate.
