Now THIS is how you respond to a mis-posting

I am so sick of people being nasty to new/less experienced members of this forum and berating them, off the bat, for listing/posting/selling in incorrect areas of the forum. It's despicable. People should be ashamed of themselves.

On that note, I would like to highlight the following post:

Hiya :)

If you want to post your bike for sale on here, you need to post it in HERE. The bike needs a price otherwise the Mods will remove it.

If you just want to link to your eBay listing, then you need to post in HERE. Make sure that you let people know that it's your bike too.

Good luck with the sale :)

I think Barneyballbags has made an elegant, kind, and informative response to someone who clearly didn't know better, and for a legitimate reason ("where do you post something, when you don't know where it belongs?"). Can we take a moment to commend Barney and learn from his example?

Thanks mate, you are a good man.

(And no, I don't know Barney - wouldn't know him from a... well, ballbag.)

Most regulars like me just point out like Barney - ie needs a price, pics might help, ask in the XYZ thread for valuations. Cant say this forum is anything other than very welcoming. I dont see too much berating at the moment? Most of the comments to them have been justified, and as I say, cant remember many out of line.

Any examples? Or have I missed something obvious?

I won't point them out for obvious reasons; I refuse to finger point. But yes, I've read quite a few. Even recently. Hostile over/undertones - too much testosterone and pent up frustration released on poor newbs.

Ok fair enough. I noticed quite an influx of new people on here to sell their old bikes for quite unrealistic amounts, but as always, if they overprice it wont sell so dont see the harm myself.

Im quite penicity (is that actually a word) but would hope nobody took offence, I just try to point people in the right direction.

not related to classifieds, but as a newbie I had a run-in with a long established member when I objected to his ill-informed comments having not read my post correctly.

was then subjected to a vile and unnecessary tirade of abuse over PM, that admittedly I started (not wishing to pollute the thread in question) with only a mildly insulting comment

put me off the site for a while

 Bloody newbies

Only kidding :D

I also think things are pretty mellow on here at the moment. It must be, its been months since i flounced off in a huff

Even General and Off Topic is calmer now that the anarcho, dog on a string, woe-is-me, 'smash the state' fraternity has crawled back under their collective giros.

Bear in mind though that its hard to take 'emotion' or body language or whatever from a body of text.

I hate when people do that when you text them
