Is there a better replacement? As I’m looking on eBay and seeing that some of them still have the “death” fork?

When Yamaha bought them out all forks were replaced with a full chrome Tange fork

Rare because everyone binned them, don't ride one though. Here's what Sheldon Brown says.

Viscount 1975 catalogue. This shows how far ahead they were. Pressed in ball races in the bottom bkt and ball races in the hubs. I think I want one.

Which after some years of use would often stretch the BB shell so they were no longer an interference fit. The only solution was to tap the BB to Italian 36x1 thread and fit a conventional BB. It was not a job I relished.

I think all pressed in b/bkts are an abortion personally, but it was ahead of its time.

In all honesty totally forgot about Viscount, some great looking bikes. That picture with Tony Doyle helped jog the memory

I cant quite work out whats going on with the Red Viscount. Some pics show a dropout with an integral mech hanger, some show the same bike with a bolt on hanger.
I also dont remember Red being a standard colour for the pro - the aerospace sport was red (and blue)
