Dirt Disciple
I was quite excited when I first saw the details of this bike before the launch. (The Raleigh TI TDF 40th Anniversary special edition in case you'd forgotton.)
I even set the wallpaper of my laptop to one of the raleigh pictures. Are some of them taken on the road between Mam Tor and Edale?
I thought originalshinkicker's unboxing video was excellent. You could hear the emotion in his voice at the disappointment with what he'd got.
This thread seems to have lost its way. It is evident that building a true replica is getting harder now that parts are no longer made. I have a 25th anniversary Stumpjumper but I built it up with original period components, Specialized had gone with modern parts which seemed a bit odd.
If I'd bought one (or more) of these Raleigh 40th anniversary bikes with a view to selling at a tidy profit once they'd sold out, or if I had a connection with Raleigh (Accell). I'd be pretty upset. If I'd just bought it to keep and enjoy I would not be happy. Going online in a state of denial would not make it better. My grievance would be with whoever is responsible for the project.
For £1500 I would expect something closer to the original.
Most importantly can this thread break the thirty page barrier?
