NEW TI RALEIGH 753 40TH TDF ANNIVERSARY MODEL

I was quite excited when I first saw the details of this bike before the launch. (The Raleigh TI TDF 40th Anniversary special edition in case you'd forgotton.)

I even set the wallpaper of my laptop to one of the raleigh pictures. Are some of them taken on the road between Mam Tor and Edale?

I thought originalshinkicker's unboxing video was excellent. You could hear the emotion in his voice at the disappointment with what he'd got.

This thread seems to have lost its way. It is evident that building a true replica is getting harder now that parts are no longer made. I have a 25th anniversary Stumpjumper but I built it up with original period components, Specialized had gone with modern parts which seemed a bit odd.

If I'd bought one (or more) of these Raleigh 40th anniversary bikes with a view to selling at a tidy profit once they'd sold out, or if I had a connection with Raleigh (Accell). I'd be pretty upset. If I'd just bought it to keep and enjoy I would not be happy. Going online in a state of denial would not make it better. My grievance would be with whoever is responsible for the project.

For £1500 I would expect something closer to the original.

Most importantly can this thread break the thirty page barrier?

If you'd bought the frame or bike why would you be so unhappy after your carefully considered purchase of £1500 or £2500.... can you help me out on this one please ?
....30 pages...no sweat.. ;)

Bought without seeing it for real I would have expected rear dropouts like on a traditional bike of the era. Similarly the sloping top tube which could easily be missed from the pictures. You seem to have an extreme need to dismiss any criticism of the details. Why is this?

I so very nearly went for this and am glad I didnt because I dont think what is offered is really a replica or even a copy, its just a modern steel frame with a few traditional bits. I would have been very disapointed.

But thats me.

I don't get it. I ask you why you need to dismiss legitimate critcism of the details and you post a picture of an optician's.

In my original post I said:

"For £1500 I would expect something closer to the original."

I also said:

"I thought originalshinkicker's unboxing video was excellent."

Thanks LGF for dropping by.

I guess I have to say each to his own. I don't have an axe to grind (they won't let me have anything sharper than wax crayons in here).

I was thinking about buying the new Rolls Royce.. but it don't look like the old one...I ain't gonna bother... :(
