New Holdsworth 2015 Heritage range

If I was buying new I'd think about having Kevin Sayles at Woodrup oversee having something built to measure. Or a custom frame from any of the other usual suspects :)

I know what you mean, just can't be bothered to wait for months or years depending who you go to. If we rode mainly road then it would be different and worth the wait.

I suggest everyone boycotts Planet X for a while - until they stop damaging the Holdsworth heritage and allow us to accurately restore our real Holdsworths by allowing decal suppliers like Lloyds to offer bicycle restorers a service.
Better, anyway, to buy and old one and restore it - the restoration of the Cyclone I did last year ( despite Planet X) didn't cost as much as it would to buy their reproduction frame and parts.......

Not read about this, are they stopping people selling replacement decals for old frames? Have you a build thread, couldn't see one just a mention about getting it painted.

Last year when I took my frame to be repainted by Argos in bristol - they told me that they couldn't supply decals because inturn, H Lloyds had been stopped s up plying them by Planet X the new owner of the brand. My bike is complete - I found another way but it's a real shame. I even phoned Planet X with no result.....

Re:

its oblivious why planet x weren't letting people have holdsworth transfers they have invested a lot off time and money in this range off heritage frames and they are protecting there investment would trek or giant release stickers from there current range?

Re:

I smell BS.

It's a long time since I had anything to do with this, but Trade Mark law and Intellectual Property rights prevent a manufacturer from using a brand name or something very similar on a different or inferior product.

I suspect it is in there somewhere, but you'd have to dig pretty deep to find a clause that prevents someone reproducing graphics used by a brand, that's not really what the law is there for. Plus, if the frame being refinished is a Holdsworth, then PX could not claim infringement, as the frame could be proven to be a Holdsworth. If you were trying to pass off a BSO as a Holdsworth, they would have a valid claim, but even then the law is not really there to prevent a one off, it is there to stop one manufacturer ripping off anothers designs, logos and products.

I suspect that PX are banking on frightening off a small firm / sole trader like H Lloyd with threats, knowing that the smaller company will not risk testing the larger companys mettle.

@kvs He was talking about getting decals for an old frame, no longer produced. I've not heard of, for example, Colnago stopping people creating and selling decals for their old frames. It would be different if Planet X offered replacement decals.

Assuming it's true then I'd imagine that's it Neil.
