Narrow wide issue ?

Hi all
Is it possible for a narrow wide chainring to cause shifting issues ?
I’m putting together a drop bar commuter that I’m struggling to get indexed properly , chain cassette and mech removed from another bike that shifted fine , cables are new the only difference is the chainring and bar end shifter which is apparently the correct 2.1 ratio ?
Any ideas ?

Really ? Why is that , is it a wear issue or a position on the chain ring ?

wear issue. but I've just noticed you've changed your shifter too, so I'd suggest you try the old shifter to rule that out as well. doesn't have to be fitted to the bike, just short length of cable and hold it in your hand.

Yes that makes sense , I think i need to swop components around 1 at a time to find the offender !
