My Restored Marin Alpine Trail

wikki

Retro Newbie
Hi all,
This is my fully restored Marin Alpine trail (1997-199:cool:
I have spent a total £250 rebuilding it and I think worth every penny!

I now have some Mach 1 white rims with black spokes, just waiting for my new slime tubes to turn up so I can fit them.

All I need now is a different rear end, I hate the standard one thats on the bike, it a bit flimsy!
If anyone knows where I can get a different one please let me know, I know Marin used the same frame on a number of models (mount vision, wolf ridge, rift zone etc...) it has to be disc.

Let me know what you all think please :)

Looks great.

Looks like you started with a 1998 or 1999 Mount Vision frame with a 1998 Alpine Trail swing arm.

I love these old FRS Marins, I have a 1998 Rift Zone which I've had from new, a 1999 Rock Springs which I bought one year old and have just bought a 1998 East Peak to add to the collection. So one each for myself and my wife, and a spare for when one needs work so we can keep riding every day.

I love these old marin's.

Have to say I am not a fan of the grips and I'd lose the rear mudguard but its a nice modernisation otherwise chap.

Thanks coomber, The only reason I have the grips is because I got them for a bargain £3 new! I have some black yeti's I may put on, they are far more comfortable.
As for the mudguard I'm using it for to travel to and from work at the moment (10 miles each way) and I don't want to get a wet ar*e :D

I'll let you off for a commute.

I reckon you will find those white grips dont stay white long so you'll be back to the black shortly ;)
