Have you considered a coat of t cut. It will bring the zing back to the paint. As for the krust, you will need to put something over those areas in the long run. Prep is everything with paint...

Looks like great progress

I gave it a once over with T Cut, polish rather than the paste ( if they still even do that? ). Polish is way less abrasive than I remember the stuff that used come in a tin was. The polish barely touched the fade in the paintwork, at least it shines now.

Been a while since i painted anything with aerosol, last thing was a 1978 Yamaha RD250, about 10 years ago, it looked OK just not as good as I'd have liked.

The areas your missing are pretty hidden. You could probably get away with humbrol enamel in a roughly matching colour.

Paint is all about prep. Kill the rust, rub it down, prime it, paint it, clear it. No drama.

I touched up an horrendous frame with enamel and a brush not long ago. Whist its not a respray, the results with a bit if patience, can be very good.

Before and after....it was just signwiting enamel mixed to roughly the right colour and cleared over the lot....

Sorted a seat post today - about the only 27mm in the pile at Life Cycle Derby, managed to also find the only 1 1/4 Steering stem in the box, completely by accident, no use whatsoever to me.

Missed a delivery AM which I think was the Ritchey headset.

Pretty much there now for parts, except for a period rear wheel, ( do have newer options ), I may also go for a 7 speed rear cassette rather than 8 ( undecided ) and a 1 1/8th stem ( a have a Blue Marin Lite I'm not overly keen on painting ) both my Fork choices dont need the Marin roller stem.

Not a lot else achieved, having spent the morning out riding and the afternoon at the vets, not for me before you ask.

3 deliveries today, very shinny new STX FD, Set of rigid forks (Impulse buy), and a Pulsar hub / Mavic Rim wheel, to go with Ritchey headset that arrived yesterday

Now I need to pull my finger out and either commit to re-painting the rear ( green ) part of the frame, or preserving the scratches etc leaving it as is.

Prep'd the brake lever bosses for ready for paint.

Not really achieved much with the actual build, gone slightly backwards in fact. I now need a QR skewer for the Pulsar hub, they appear to be 1 or 2mm larger in diameter than standard., Any one have one just lying about ? I have a serviceable period(ish) Exage wheel I'll use until a skewer turns up.
Have got an STX 7 speed rear wheel and lever / shifters on the way though, think I'm now covered for everything I need to put it together after the cosmetics ( paint / missing decals ) are sorted.

Have rubbed down the stem and put a coat of primer on, forks also primered and a thin 1st coat of paint done.

As it's stands t he bike is going to be a lot more period than I originally intended, albeit with mainly STX running gear ( everything except frt wheel and cantis ). Probably won't look for a set of STX Canti's though
