My first build... Xcpro2

Re: My first build...

Nice bike although i'd prefer drop handle bars but that's just me and yes please keep us updated regards the saddle as you've got 100% of my interest and if all works out well i may just be after one depending on wether why next project takes off as i'm thinking of doing a single speed hack bike but that will depend on space in my shed when i've had a tidy up in it ..

Re: My first build...

Make space! I'll let you know on the saddle...

Incidentally I rode drop bars for the first time in probably 25 years the other day- I don't think I'll be converting although I might try some forward leaning risers at some point.

Next up zaskar build!

Re: My first build...

Tbh riding a bike with drop bars after 28 years will probably put the wind up me atm but i'm still playing with the idea of fitting some to the hack when i get started on it and forward leaning mm! i'm not sure wether i like the sound of that but if you go ahead with the idea then i can see what i think after i've seen your's .

Zaskar! how soon will you be starting that project ? and cheers mate i will look forward to further updates on the saddle ;) ..

Re: My first build...

I was toying with switching bars on the maxlight, though I'll probably just buy another pair due to silly OCD type stuff- its got to match right?! It's more about the angle, think the flats are about half an inch off for me atm, so Ill either raise or try risers. I'll let you know if I ever get around to it...

Zaskar will start this week probably- Im short of a headset, stem and front mech, otherwise it is all coming off my RIP'd nickel P7. Of course, I might replace that some day too! Ha!

Re: My first build...

I'd try risers and it's got to be a close match in order to feel happy with the overall looks imo and your not likely to get that effect unless you pick and choose from a choice of new bars that's unless you've got a big stash of them buried in the garage or shed that is ..

A week to wait isn't long and i don't have much in the way of spare parts either otherwise i'd help out but yes i'm really looking forward to this Zaskar build ;) and please don't do a p7 build unless it's somthing you really have to do or you'll have to many bikes to ride  which reminds me i must get some big hooks so i can hang my bikes up in the shed before i carry with my not so important projects but i'm still having issues deciding which one isn't important to me  ..

Re: My first build...

I thought having too many bikes to ride was the point?! With that in mind tomorrow I should be picking up another nickel P7- found one reasonably nearby for a decent price, one inch steerer too so can port my stem and pace forks I picked up for the now condemned one... it's mental but so what! Having a garage would help mind...

Re: My first build...

Yes that is the point if you've got the room for them  ..

I'm loving the the sounds of things on the p7 front although i'd of the thought the Zaskar was 1st priority :? but any how i can't wait to see the p7 as i'm a sucker for a nice nickel orange ;) ..

I'd love to have a garage too mate but it will never happen unless we can move home to somewhere that's got one so i'll have to get a bigger shed at a later date ..

Re: My first build...

Yeah think zaskar will get going this weekend, although it depends on how much I want to attack the frame finish wise- might take a while to get it sparkly, if that is what I decide to do... leaving it dull is also an option. No rush o either build really.

Re: My first build...

Well i hope you can decide one way or the other about the finish on the Zaskar frame although i myself would go for the shiny option even if i was feeling a little impatient i know i'd be happier with the end results and as for the orange well i'd be tempted to just give it a quick cut and polish then straight onto the build ..

Re: My first build...

The orange is going to need the laquer getting off, polish and a spray over - not sure whether to do that myself or tap a mate up for the spraying. On the zaskar I like both looks- might put some bits on and see how I feel before going super shiny... I may well like the worn look just as much. Anyways, I've started a build thread for both in the retro sub forum.
