Mutiple splatter paint kona content, page 18/19 for latest builds

Re:

With a bit of luck because i was selling some Deore ll/DX parts i stumbled across these NOS black Deore ll hubs on eBay with only 20 minutes to go. A quick last second bid and that agonising wait, and it came up on the screen, congratulations you won :D
I've been after a set of these hubs in nos for ages now to finish the build off,i've pretty much giving up looking for nos Joe Murray Reaction tyres because i don't think they exist  So all i need to do now is drop the wheels off at Steels again and get them laced up,fit the nos HG70 cassette and chain. After that it'll be finished to the spec i would've asked Dentons to order one for me :D

Re:

It's not got splatter on it but it's a Kona so i thought i'd add a couple of quick pics before it go's up for sale. I restored this to be my everyday comuter bike but it turned out to be a bit to small being 16",so now i've got that Rockhopper which fits it's time to part company.
The rebuild plan was simple saying it still had 99% of its original parts, which still amazes me saying its made its way all the way from Robson Cycles in Vancouver British Columbia 24 years ago. Basically the idea was to have it looking like konas catalogue bike which meant a couple of things, spraying the lever blades black, finding grips which had the same look and replacing the tyres to the original black wall Maximum and Reactions and alot of cleaning and polishing.
The rear brakes are not 500LX like in the catalogue but this is the second 92 Lavadome i've owned and they both just had the lower spec m201's,so they stayed on. Another thing i didn't know was the forks are the triple butted Project twos with cm/tb stamped on the steerer,in the catalogue it just says project two. Pedals were passed there sell buy date so they were swapped out for some new wellgo's and some new toeclips.
I'm chuffed with how it turned out but gutted that it turned out to be just to small for me in the end,but on the bright side it's another Kona saved from the scrap heap of strip and flip and that's a good thing in my book :D

Re:

A couple of quick pictures before i part company with my cindercone saying the Killiflyer won the battle of who would stay and who would be sold :)
I don't know how many times i changed the spec on this bike until i was finally happy,it's had 6 speed Deore to black Deore ll,Mountain LX,silver Deore ll  Eventually i settled on this spec with the idea of keeping it close to original but with a couple of period correct upgrades.

Spec:
Gears: Mountain LX
Chainset,Shifters,Front Mech,Rear Mech.

Brakes :
Mountain LX levers
Mountain LX cantilevers
Deore ll U-Brake

Wheels & Tyres
Araya RM17 Rims
Deore LX M550 Hubs (i took the stickers off)
Joe Murray Reaction Tyres Front & Rear

Controls:
Oem stem
Itm bars
Tange Headset
Oem grips
Deore XT seatclamp
Anodised Kalloy seatpost
Oem Kona Avocet Racing l saddle.

It's a good blend of parts giving it a subtle upgrade, but not so it was sharing to many parts with my Explosif,it had to be kept in it's place in the pecking order
It's been a good bike but i have that Killi to finish and those other two splatter paint Konas to start building to keep me busy for a while.

So now to sell it,if anyone's interested drop me a message before it go's on eBay later on and i can email better pictures. I'm going to include postage but i only use Parcelforce Large because i won't strip the bike down to stick it in a tiny box to keep the costs down, that's how they could get damaged. Basically all i'm doing is taking the front wheel off and removing the stem if i have to,then all the new owner has to do is put the wheel on and off they go.

Re: Re:

Just thought i'd give a heads up to those who maybe interested. I've had a good think in the past couple of months and have decided that i'm going to part company with my Explosif
Some of the reasons are bike related and some are non bike related but one of the main reasons is it just hangs on the wall with all its nice shiny new parts. I don't know how many times my mates have said why won't you use it and you can see there confused look when i say because all the parts are brand new,if i use it they won't be new anymore  I'm sure there'll be people on here who understand where i'm coming from.
I'm glad i went down the route of fitting the bike with new original parts because that's what i wanted all along but on the downside it sort of became its downfall.
