Mutiple splatter paint kona content, page 18/19 for latest builds

Re: 1989 Kona Cindercone

Well finally decided how this build would end up looking, partly because i wanted the velocity stem for my Dave Yates. But sadly because of the Dave Yates this one like my others will be sold off to fund the build so unfortunately they'll be no group shot of the seven :(
It's been one of the most enjoyable builds i've done so far, starting with a manky blank canvas and ending up the way it has. And because of that i thought i'd treat it to a couple of nice parts,so this is the build spec.

F&F:Tange Mtb and Project Twos
Stem: 1" can't remember :D
Bars: ITM Ultra Light
Grips: Nos Odi John Tomacs
Brakes: Deore ll levers with hoods, matt black Deore Mt62 cantis, matt black Deore ll U-brake
Shifters: Deore XT
Front Mech: Mountain LX
Rear Mech: Mountain LX
Chainset: Mountain LX
Cassette:HG70
BB: New Shimano
Hubs: M550 Deore LX
Rims: Araya RM17's
Tyres: Ritchey World Championship K force
Pedals: New Wellgo M149
Seatclamp: Nos Deore XT
Seatpost: New Uno
Saddle: Avocet Racing 1

All in all an enjoyable build :D

Re:

The Explosif is very nearly finished until i can get the black Deore ll hubs laced up then it'll finally be completed (well nearly still need some amber wall Maximum and Reaction tyres) how i'd have specced the bike in 1989. Which would've been the black Deore ll hubs on black RM20's instead of the silver it came with standard,XT seatpost and XT quick release seatclamp.

Nice job Chris, looking sweet

Very nice Chris - love that Explosif :)

Re:

Cheers lads,it's certainly my favourite bike out of my collection, can't wait to get the black hubs on it to finish it off.
Thought i'd enter it into this month's bike of the month :D

Re:

Sometimes things happen for a reason,as the cindercone didn't sell and i had time to ponder what i was going to do with it,i remembered i had some usable oem spec Reaction tyres in the loft. When i was looking for them i found the original wheels, nos mountain lx combi levers, cantis and u-brake,so i decided to put it back to catalogue spec. A bit of cleaning and polishing of the brakes,a search on eBay for a black Kalloy seatpost and this is the result so far.
To my eyes it looks a whole lot better being in standard spec than it's previous guise. Or that might be just me having a thing at the minute of my bikes to be as they left the bike shop bitd, one thing though i'm glad it didn't sell :)

Opinions welcome :D
