I do like the fire mountain it's one of my favourites out of all the splatter paints Kona did,the blue and white go perfect together.

Looking at yours mate that should clean up no bother, using that cream cleaner will do the trick.

Cheers mate ;) and yes it's my fav splatter paint finishes too hence why i jumped at the chance of it last year would you believe but any way it was the 1st Kona i saw advertised in MBUK back in 89 and i couldn't afford another new bike at the time and i never got one after that either but my mate bitd couldn't understand my interest in a lower range Kona at the time but their again what do you expect from some one who'd just bought one of the very 1st 89 Team Stump jumpers to come on the market and to say he was infatuated with it didn't even come close ..

Any way i'm none to bothered about keeping mine 100% retro due to lack of funds as i just want it looking respectable and road worthy so i can enjoy it , well i can't get down to the local Morris as i need transport to get there so it will have to wait till next weekeend and any way i need to sort out the rust on it 1st as theirs a few area's you can't see on the pics that need a little attention with wire wool when i can find it ..

Re:

Sun's out :D

I gave the explosif a really good clean with the cream cleaner and three coats of polish and i'm really happy how it's turned out. So getting it resprayed is out the question,it's only original once and all that :)

I have some spare stickers so i'll replace the left hand side top tube Kona sticker because that's badly damaged and there's no paint splatter on it and that's its.
Next step will be to find a colour match for the chainstays and other parts of worn paint and it might end up being worthy of the nos original Deore ll parts i've stashed away.

Re:

Old sticker off new one on.

Because it looks so new and perfect i'm going to take little bits out of it so it matches up with most of the other stickers on the bike so it blends in.

That frame has come up a real treat mate and i'm sure that sticker will look a little more fitting when it's dulled a little but otherwise i'd be proud to own it :) ..

The yellow writing on the Avocet looks alot better imho and that Explosif is just screaming to be ridden so when are you bringing it round then ? ;) :D ..

Re:

Finished and final spec picked ready for auction.

I've settled on a mixture of oem parts and some upgrades.

Cheers mate,as you've probably seen on these Kona builds they can change quite alot until i'm happy with the look etc, retrobike ocd at its finest
The XT build was more curiosity to be honest because the XT parts which have been taking off are for my 88 Montana.
I've decided to finish the build so it still had the originality of how Kona specced the bike but with some suitable upgrades.

The other Explosif will be treated to all the original nos Deore ll parts i've got tucked away once the frame and forks are sorted out,but that will be at a later date.

Yes it hadn't gone a miss about the frequent build changes nor had it gone unnoticed about your retro bike OCD   but yes i'm pleased to see you did the decent thing regards the spec after removing the XT parts and i'm most certainly interested to see this Montana build as i use to love how they looked bitd and it's been a considerable amount of time since i've seen one ..
II parts ..
