Just checked the route and it's only 511 miles from my house (34 of which are on the EuroTunnel) so in theory I can drive to Arnhem in one day and using just one tank of petrol, same coming back. Seriously tempted! I may see you there Dirk

Visited the myseum today and been drooling over this fantastic collection of bikes. Jeroen did a fantatic job in preserving each caracteristic bike of the eras.
Every bike has its own story and we appreciated the knowledge of Jeroen about this.

The museum is also an excellent start of a ride across the beautiful woods nearby (like we did with loads of fun ).

Highly recommended (nearly a must)!!!!!

As today is a bank holiday in the Netherlands and the weather is lovely , I took the opportunity to ride one of my retro steeds to the Mountainbike Museum in Arnhem (about 18mi).
Upon arrival, I noted little activity around the Museum, so I decided to call and see whether it would open today. Jeroen, the owner, answered my call and informed me that he was not in the country and therefore not planning to open the Museum.
However, as I took the time to come over, he called his parents to ask if they could open the Museum, just for me (!). And they did..

The place is FAN-TAS-TIC and a must-see for anyone visiting this forum!

And there are tons of bikes that still have to be put on display..

I took the liberty to eternalize my Dean Ti amongst all those legendary bikes, frames, parts, jerseys, etc..

I'm definitely going back there soon, not only to take a closer look at all the gems out there, but also (hopefully) to meet Jeroen in person.

Been to Arnhem a number of times but will definitely check this out next time. If you live in the East of England there's an overnight ferry to the Hoek , then it's a 100 mile ride. Mates have done it on road bikes and they allow an easy 8 hour ride, flat and lots of cycle paths.

I've been watching a few Facebook live videos from the museum this morning as they pull all of the non-display bikes out from storage, ready for cataloguing.
An amazing amount of bikes are coming out of storage :shock:

They have stated that they don't sell their bikes, instead choosing to give any duplicates / or less desirable bikes to charity.
Unless it's a bicycle re-use type of charity, then surely they'll just be sold by the charity instead?
