Mountain mayhem 2016 aftermath thread

Re:

This does look like a lot of fun.
How far in advance does the Retrobike crew need notice for attendance? And is there an initiation into the circle..???

Re:

My recollections of the weekend 

Firstly thanks to all those who organised the weekend, from arranging the team, setting up and guarding the campsite , much appreciated. !!!!!

I had met a couple of you before, it was good to put faces to many other names that I am familiar with on the forum, there are some real characters amongst the group and good to meet some like-minded fellows. Apologies for those I didn’t speak to much.

Thanks to those who helped me get my head around the course rules, handover, lights etc etc apologies if I asked the same stupid questions over and over again at 2am everyone looked the same due to sleep deprivation, my excuse was I had been up for the best part of 2 days with minimal sleep which was why my laps were really slow.

If you had asked me if I would come back again after my first lap cycling through ‘velcro’ and crossing the finish line pedalling with one leg because my thigh muscle was seized I would have said “I would rather stick wasps up my arse” but the second lap in the morning was a wonderful almost spiritual experience so enjoyable I have book next year off work just in case my help is needed again.

The Kona was amazing, felt at home through the course, I feel I am gradually taming her :)

Re:

Only recently surfaced from the depths of sleep, that wee adventure to the lands of Mayhem was truly exhausting !

The weekend was Braw, Pure Dead Brilliant, Fandabbydozy etc etc :D

Will I do it again......at the moment Nae Chance but once the physical and mental scars are gone, who knows

Huge thanks to my chauffeur/landlord/comedic entertainer Nobby and his sidekick short pants for making this whole adventure for me possible

Big thanks to History Man for the services of Frank, the retrobike equivalent of a Sherman Tank that just rolled through or over everything the circuit could throw at me

Further thanks to all members of retrobike present who accepted the strange tall Scotsman without comment and made me welcome.

Finally a wee thanks to Pizzahut for giving an unemployed chap a wee lifeline by giving me a job upon my return from Mayhem, its a start ;)
