Mountain Mayhem 2015...............to retro or not to retro?

Thoughts please....... I am planning on participating in my first Mayhem as part of a team of 4 this year. My predicament is that my other 3 team members will be all riding modern & I do not even own a modern bike. I was thinking about using my Parkpre Team 925, however it is my p&j & the thought of getting it wrecked (thinking Mayhem 2012) after the man hours that I put in polishing the frame etc, etc fills me with dread. However I am steadily coming around to the following school of thought; I would be using it for what it was designed to do back in the day, it is still a very light/chuckable bike & with some decent off road tiers I think it will more than hold its own. Either that or spend £150 on a second hand modern from ebay & fall in line with the rest of my team.

I would take the Parkpre Team 925.... and ride it !!
it looks great but I am sure it rides better ... If anything breaks (Unlikely unless chain or something) it will give you something to tinky on and then you can give it a good clean after Mountain Mayhem

Not riding it at Mountain Mayhem is the first step to hanging it on the wall. Ride the Parkpre!

Just ride it. Memories are much more important than mud .
