Modern groupset on a Retro frame - anyone done it

I've done a few Restomods. I recently put one together from an old 70's Raleigh Scorpio frame and a selection of odd modernish Shimano bits I had hanging around, thread here.

My favourite of the ones I've done is the Holdsworth Elan below, I bought this as a bare and very scruffy frame from ebay a good few years ago, restored and repainted the frame and built it up with some modernish Campag bits and some modern Gipiemme wheels, the chainset although old looking is also modern, it's a Holdsworth Tampo'd one that Planet X do.

As I suspect there isn't really a suitable place for my latest build I'll put it here.

This is what happens when you convert a Raleigh Maverick into a hybrid while having some Aldi 'designer' duct tape lying about.

Coming soon, Raleigh Titanium and zebra stripes.

Re: Re:

I did build the Raleigh up and eventually used period Campagnolo Nuovo Record because the frame was too old to use modern components, in addition to no braze ons it had nutted brakes so there were too many compromises to get a modern group set to work.
I eventually sold it to buy a later frame that was more suitable and built that up with modern components.
I'm on the look out for a Red frame to build up the same way.

Never miss an opportunity to post pictures
how did you install the front brakes?
