I know there are a few people who run drops offroad here - so this might be of interest.

After snapping the lever body on my lovely 20th Anniversary HS33s t'other day, I now have some spare brakes to experiment with!

I've been on the look-out for some HS66s for ages to fit on my SS cross bike, but have given up now, so.............Franken-Maguras here we come :D

I've bought a pair of older HS11 levers on ebay. The clamps have a lot of extra material on them compared to the HS33 levers, so I should be able to file/dremel them out to fit onto road bars.

Hopefully the 4 finger levers should mean that you can brake effectively on the drops, and if I file the clamps at a slight angle I can change the lever angle in relation to the bars.

This is the basic plan (excuse the shonky MS Paint drawing!):

I'll upload photos as this continues - might be interesting!

No, the HS11s use a barbed insert like this -

- instead of the olive and nut on the HS33s (which is why the 90 degree kit won't work on HS11s).

Taking apart old Maguras and fiddling with them is something of a hobby of mine!

So a piece of copper tubing of the correct diameter should sleeve over the barbed fitting quite nicely. Or that is the plan!

Theyre Hope cylinders yes but the principals the same, why bend a pipe when a banjo fitting would point the hose in the correct direction to the bars.

The banjo connection sounds like a good one, either that or keep the original connection and just have the hose run in a slightly larger radius bend before it goes under the handlebar tape.
The copper pipe idea would throw too many connections (ie failure/leak points) into the equation for my liking.

I'd hate to see you put all that work in, then realized that you're not going to able to reach the levers at all - you should just be patient and wait for some 66's to pop up and invest. Don;t cheap out, either - experimentation, hydraulic systems and brakes are a deadly combination.

Just allocate the budget and spend it when you find the RIGHT parts.
