Misreable and ignorant cyclist...

So the OP passed a couple of roadies. They couldn't have been that good because a good roadie will beat an equal mtb'er anytime on the road on their usual bikes, and vice versa on an XC route.

I've never got this them and us crap, whichever discipline it comes from.

Plus the fact the average roadie will be covering serious distance.

:)

You got the context wrong. Two guys realized that someone was trying to overtake them and they were trying to make it impossible - not by increasing their speed, but by blocking the road. That's where the ignorance is.

If it upset you that much then you should have gone all Moto on their asses. Elbows out, and punch a hole through the middle between them instead of waiting till you get home to go medieval on your keyboard.

in front of me. It always makes me pedal faster when I see someone in front, so I did.

Why? Did you know them? If you were in a car would you drive right up behind the car in front?

I noticed many cyclists do this. Why?

I once passed a couple of MTBers going up a slight incline. They were fashions answer to modern MTBing i was clad in my sailing jacket and wellies.
I caught up,gave them a cheery hello saying not the best day for it lads[bit wet] then dropped into my 48x12t and disappeared into the distance.

Yeeee get it up ya

I think the slag off for roadies is 'Keep to the left'

Whether we be riding fat tyre or thin, cyclists should remember we all pedal the things and the real enemy out there is the things with engines, usually of the four or more wheeled variety, although there are a lot of ass hole motorcyclists around, but the majority of motorcyclists have a clue what it is like to be vulnerable on two wheels so have some consideration.

We don't need enemies in the world of cycling.

I was recently riding home from an 18 mile almost all off-road trip to a nearby town. Was just coming into the village on the main road and was tired, so just trundling along.

I was in the Trance X and wearing all the modern kit, carrying a Camelbak etc, and I became a tempting target for one of the locals to overtake at all cost. Mid 50's, out of shape, feet flat on the pedals of his elderly £89 Argo special. He came whizzing past, doubtless chuffed thinking that I wax in the "all the gear, no idea category".

Actually, I have a lot of idea (I'm a MIAS L4 quali'd MTB instructor) and knew he'd never take the oncoming corner at the speed he was doing. And he didn't, lowsiding and coming off as he tried to lean into it.

I trundled past, visually checking he was awright as I went by, and he'd dropped about 9 points on the cockiness scale is as baby seconds.

Point is, don't get hung up on what some other muppet is doing. Chill, let them get on with it. In our hero's situation I'd have pulled over for a swig O's water and let them bugger off. Not gonba have a coronary over a couple of muppets.

Agreed 100%

When I wander out to the garage, some days I take the road bike, some days the mtb, just depends what I want to do.

I treat all other cyclists the same, and will wave at anybody.

Life's too short!!
