Metro newspaper article

As many of us do own both car(s) and bike(s), maybe we should ask them where we get our refund from. :)

Two points:

1. The Metro is owned by the Daily Mail.

2.

Would be interesting to see an analysis of how many cyclists are also car owners.

There are 31 million cars on the road, and an adult population of 36 million. So that's 86% of the population. Bicycle ownership amongst over-17s is only about 50%. So you'd imagine that most cyclists have cars too :)

Yup, then there's the kids. Not likely is it?

Always remember, 50% (figure rounded up to save space) of the population are of below average* intelligence.

*Average taken as median for this quote. Other averages are available, but may make the nuber even starker (the mean intelligence will probably be higher than the median intelligence, assuming a normal distribution, as there is a lower boundary (zero intelligence), but no set upper boundary for intelligence).

i pay a lot of tax for my silly large engined car, does this mean i have more right to use the road than someone in a fiesta? plenty of cars available now that pay zero tax

You don't have any rights to use your car on the roads.

That's the thing about rights - they don't come or are increased with money, status or anything else - everybody has them, and to quote or US cousins, they should be "inalienable".

You have a limited privilege to use your car on the road, but your rights apply to things like pedestrian access and cycling (probably include horse road use, there, too).
