Ok, ok... :D

Take a video while your doing it in case anything goes wrong, keep is amused.

I can put 100PSI in old mag21s and they'll not blink (well unless you have the retaining clips removed ;-))

They'll be fine, what do you think happens when you use the fork and all that air suddenly gets compressed over a bump.

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

Looks like not I will do it, I found a specialist nearby...
He knows everything about the Marzos, he service them in the last 20years. A bike service owner, specialized for forks and brakes.
I don't wand to study on this fork. :D

its basically the same principle as finding the hole in a punctured innertube, your just gonna be paying someone to do something you could probably do yourself. I have no experience with these forks either and im giving mine a full rebuild, so i have faith in you :p

Re:

Anyway... i bought the etching primer and satin black paint this morning, if theres one thing that halfords are best for then its their cans of paint

These also came in the post for me today. these forks are getting costly, its surprising how quickly the costs add up. ive spent £125 so far so i hope they're worth it

My DIY paintbooth is all set up

1st coat of etch primer

Don't You cover the screw holes? The threads doesn't like the paint...
they'll live

The paint on the surface where the brace sits will be scraped off anyway so its just a minimal amount of overspray. I'll pop some bolts in there for the next few coats just to be safe

Re: Marzocchi Z2 Superfly restoration???

bits of paper in the holes easy to get out. and Vaseline (maybe?) on the flat brace part to stop it bonding and just wipe off.
Someone will know a better way for that flat part. not that it matters now.

Masking tape, trim around the edge with a knife, should be fairly easy. Just use the old bolts in the other holes.

Re:

7 coats of etch primer later....

Luckilly its about 20 degrees outside today so i left the legs in the garden to bake for 3 hours while i visit the gf and the paint has hardened nicely. ive prepped them for the top coat and smoothed the surface with 2000gritt wet and dry paper

On goes the first coat of satin black. i chose satin over gloss because satin gives a smoother finish and I've found it to be harder wearing
