Marzocchi Bomber Z1 - Modern Hope Discs

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked before.

I'm wanting to do a refresh on my 97 Zaskar and it has the classic 97 Orange Marzocchi Bomber Z1's on it.

I want to put the a Hope front disc on it (that I could never afford when I was young). Does anyone have any experience of doing this? Not sure if the standards have changed over the years, or if I'd need some kind of adaptor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

By searching for Bombers Z1 disc adapter (I'd like to have a master for all adapters to be able to do a rebuilding on all the older Marzocchi's when I need it) I stumbled about this post a few days ago :

There is a picture showing an adapter on a Z1.

Hope probably have the details on their website and if not you could give them a ring. Should be possible as there's loads of adaptors available.

If you have the model of Z1 shown in the image above, then you will need Hope calliper No.4 which is a direct fit. However, they are quite illusive...

I put that manual up, glad you found it useful. The photo shows a 1997 Z1, that'll be the dual disc version. Hope made a caliper to fit directly onto the mount without an adapter. The mounts are Formula Standard.
Adapters have been available in the past, to adapt the Formula mount to International Standard, even one made by Magura.

kraeMit, the best adapter I've seen as mentioned is the Magura adapter. I'll attach a couple of pics saved from elsewhere.
Looks like the part number was 0720 845

Yes the picture from the Hope catalogue and the photo above with the Magura adapter are both 1997 Z1

Old thread, but for the ones surfing the net it might be helpfull.

This Disc Adapter Formular (FS) to IS Mount is for older Marzocchi's like Z1 & Z2 from 1996+.

I solved this problem now by doing this well known adapter as I have a box full with orange Marzocchi Z1 from the beginning and people contantly asking for it 2-3 times in a month. Not that mass seller product, but I like to fix problems.

I needed some years to get a master sample, but here it is : Made out of Aluminium 7075, HQ CNC maschined, anodized. May not fit perfect to all Disc mounts - old Magura Disc Brakes will fit perfect - but it is a comfortable base to make your Z1 running on disc just by little changes!
