marin re-spray

Hi

Just been cleaning my marin bear valley and thinking all though it still looks great now's the time to really get it restored for the summer

I have a few questions to those in the know..

- Can i get Decals to replace the existing ones (1995 marin)?

- What is involved in replacing the headset and any advice on where to purchase.

- anything else to consider in doing this.

The frame is generally in good order with a few rust spots and groupset looks good for the age too but might be a good opportunity to get some XT bits on if i can find them for a good price.

Thanks

James

yes, replacement decals can be sought from gil_m on here. i know he has that year on file and has feedback to support his work.

1995 bear valley. this one i've just scrapped due to cracked frame and seatpost issues....

i can only assume you have the original headset in there? they are well made and a replacement of bearings will be enough to get it back to it's best. easily sought 1.1/8" bearing races. bin the existing ones and give everything else a good clean with white spirit, for example. new bearings and grease and you should be fine for few years.

OEM for this is stx, the chromica bronzey stuff? it's as good as anything really but, swap out at your leisure.

Thanks for the help on the headset. Bearings replaced, re-greased and it's really smooth now

having difficulties finding a sprayer. I live on the wiltshire, hampshire border

any idea's?

thanks

Powder Pot repaint

He did a Dawes tandem, spare forks, Kona frame and forks for me for under £100. The finish is brilliant, really smooth, not like an industrial guy who did another frame for £30.

He likes doing bikes, and seemed to have a couple of high-end motorbike frames in while I was there. The work was also finished earlier than promised (4 day turnaround!)
