Made a Rear Brake Adaptor for Parallel mount/Klein bikes

drkway2esc:
Here are the standard dimensions.
You should be able to combine them into a Hayes/Post Mount adapter and work around your seatstays in the middle.

Hayes 22mm standard

ISO Rear Post mount

Alternatively, if you're not devoted to Post Mount, and there's enough space under the seatstays, it may be easier to go to a modern Flat Mount rear caliper.
Ironically, it's very close to the original Hayes standard from 20+ years earlier.

All the best,

Danson67,

This is very helpful information ... grateful for these specs!
I do have my hopes set on a Hope Tech 3 E4 set-up in the rear to match the front and thus the post mounting configuration is the target; however I have set my sights on Hope's X2 Flat Mount as the contingent approach. As you indicated, the X2 is likely the easier route but the URT geometry is rather tight. I guess I will begin a little design effort and see what can be packaged and where.

Thanks again and Ride on!

Hi.
Yes sadly I’ve not been on the forum for ages, I’ve had a break from biking due to an accident but getting back into it again with the purchase of an electric bike which is very enjoyable.

I’ve sold the bike to a friend since making the brake mount, but still able to see the bike now and then.
I didn’t write any dimensions down when I made it, being that it’s a one-off, I I just measured and made it to fit. I can say it’s substantially better than anything you can buy, so if your able to make one then go for it. I used 1/4” thick aluminium and welded it myself. It’s a trial and error process working out the angles, offset clearance etc, I’m a precision engineer so this is my thing.

Re:

Sir UrbanFireBlade,

Thanks for your reply but sorry to hear about your accident, but glad that you are back on a two-wheeled chariot.

I don't doubt that your creation is finer than anything that can be bought; also, don't doubt that a little trial and error is in order. I'm going to pursue something similar but hoping to avoid the welding steps (since I don't have that skill) but maybe CNC machine something out of an AL billet (I don't have that skill but have willing accomplices ;) ). Also toying with the idea of molding something in carbon fiber, that another buddy has some rudimentary skills in and doing any finishing necessary with the CNC. So many dreams, so little time.

This will be a winter project as I don't typically ride in the colder months. I'll post my version of your inspiration when I have something that's operational. Hope that you continue down the path of the healing road and the recovery is complete and e-bike (or any conveyance) offers miles of smiles. :)

Did you get to make your brake mount? Sorry i haven't been on here for a long time!
