Re: Macretro Fat Camp - 2013/2014

I'm in if you are up for it. I'll weigh in later, target is <80kg

Re: Macretro Fat Camp - 2013/2014

80 kg at the moment. My goal is 77-76 kg.

Re: Macretro Fat Camp - 2013/2014

85.6kg the festivities have left me with an extra 1.5kg's.

Re: Macretro Fat Camp - 2013/2014

Was 12.5 stone for years (about 80kg) . Recently cut down on the wine , bread , pasta , cheese and stopped taking sugar in my coffee.
Eating more lean meat and veg and porridge for breakfast.
Now 12 stone (76kg). Thats as far as I want to go as I dont want to look like a stick.
Feel better , more alert. I notice that if I have a stodgy meal or a chippy I take a dive and feel awful.

Nowt wrong with looking like a stick, I'm more tree like now but 10 years back I was 12 stone but still 6'6", now thats looking like a stick, a bamboo stick for holding up bean plants

Re: Macretro Fat Camp - 2013/2014

Still my usual 92.5kg winter weight. Seems to be my body's natural weight as I never go much above it and struggle to get much lower than 90kg. Ok I go cut out all the fun foods in life, but what would be the point? The insulin doesn't help as any change in diet means messing about with my doses at the same time to try and balance it all out.
Given up worrying anyway, as I'm actually feeling quite good on the bike at the moment. High intensity stuff needs working on, that's what hurt me at Tentsmuir. My technical riding and upper body strength also needs some work, especially now Whister trip is booked and paid for. Those three areas are my plan and if that leads to weight loss then great, but it's not a current goal as such.

As Clubby has pointed out, there is a build that is still healthy that is right for you at a given period of your life. You cant be the superfit whippet thin person of your youth in your middle age. However its good to stop piling on excess lard. Be realistic in your aims, whats best for you based on recommended body masses for a given age and build. I'm 2 stone heavier than in my twenties purely by middle aged spread but i'm still well within whats healthy for my age and build. My fathers carrying a bit more than he did but he's 70 and its about right for his age and build.

Re: Macretro Fat Camp - 2013/2014

I think what hawmaw posted is a fairly good summation. I've pretty much based my target on reaching what he's describing, I know I can look in the mirror and see where the excess is 'stored' and I'm really trying to shift that and get to where he's talking about. I'm actually hoping to get down to about the same 75ish kg, but 80 is my new target (85 was my first from 93 in the summer). Having a weight target just seems a handy measurable scale but of course is by no means an exact representation of health.
