A snippet from tomorrows Autosport magazine....

This years race was marred by several big accidents, one of the most severe involving cart number 3 at 3:22am on Sunday morning near The Esses. The driver, who wishes his name be kept secret, quoted from The Big Book Of Racing Drivers Excuses, said 'I don't know what happened. We had an earlier problem with overheating beer and had just made an unscheduled stop at the bar near the Dunlop Bridge. This was about the 30th such stop and was just routine. We headed back down toward Tetre Rouge and the cart felt good so we pushed on trying to make up the lost time whilst singing Peter Starstedts 1968 hit 'Where do you go to my lovely'. Then suddenly the post and two bins came out of the darkness and struck the cart head on. I suppose the Marlboro Lights we were using didn't provide the levels of lighting the name suggested' The crew waited for several hours for the Safety and Medical Cars to arrive on the scene but were left to be the subject of taunts from the french who just took pictures with camera phones and sang songs about Rosbif Engleeesh Pigs.
'we eventually headed out on foot to replace the Amstel that had been lost in the shunt' he continued whilst proudly showing the bruise on his shin. 'I was pretty stiff the next morning but that was probably due to chatting with Vanina Ickx earlier in the day'

It is believed that the crew lost their deposit on the cart

Had a day of two extremes today.

A very good 2 hour ride tonight on the spesh. I really love the bike :D , you are right velo it is by no means a shonky machine- fast, controlled, very comfy and a thing of beauty, an aristo looking bike- super 8) .

The fly in the ointment was that I got my P45 from work today. I am feeling pretty pragmatic about it, but I know that it will not be easy to get employment at the mo. As a consequence I will need to limit any get togethers as money will be very tight  - I am going to try and get some local trails reccied so if you fancy a ride in ayrshire I can offer you a good run out, a hot brew and jaffa cake or two  .

Happy trails lads.

Sh1te gazz, I'm really sorry to hear that...I'm sure you and the family will be fine and if there's anything which I can do (even if it's just you all coming round to help us eat a bean and lentil chilli  ) then let me know...maybe time to open a bike repair business out of your garage

Awwwwwwwww Man thats serious crap Gaz, very sorry to hear that.

I vote we have a Retro meet this July at Gaz's hoose, show some solidarity and the like
