Any of you guys still going to this race?
I nearly forgot but picked my daughter up from friend's and her friend's dad reminded me, meant to ask him how he got on on the Etape Caledonia.

Anyone for a wee Pentlands ride this Sunday or my local trails or Explore Gore Glen and the Arniston Estate or something. Purely selfish suggestion as i'm a bit skint this month and need to stay local.
I was taking part in a 50 mile sponsored road cycle this Sunday around Galashiels area but it got cancelled due to event insurance difficulties and thus i'm in a cycling frame of mind but with no event to focus on.
I'll go for a pootle on my own if needs must but its nice to have company.

cheers velo

Right folks, i'm off work next week and I've set aside about 4-5 days for riding, so I'm looking for ideas. I'm going to take a big bouncy bike and something lighter for xc. Options so far include fort william for the uplift and xc stuff, maybe glencoe for some of the same. There's also the trail centres in the south-west which i've never been to.

Any suggestions for anything else i've missed? I'm quite keen to take the opportunity to ride some new stuff and/or places I can't do in a day trip from edinburgh.

I can only suggest XC rides but the Sligachen & Quiraing Skye rides were spectacular as was our recent Torridon one.

Trail centre wise I recommend Kirroughtree Black run, still my favourite trail ride I have ever done.

Thanks TK, xc suggestions are fine as I think if I do fort bill and glencoe then i'll have the silly stuff out of my system. K'tree has been on the list for a long time so I am keen to do that one.

On the way up the A9 you could do the downhill at dunkeld above the hermitage, meant to be pretty good and very steep at the top.

I've actually raced that DH in Dunkeld, in the Scottish Champs no less. It was a seriously tough course and I came second last!
