MacRetro chat and rides thread

The White Lightning is indeed coming to Dunkeld and it does indeed glow as my upstairs neighbour can confirm

Also a friend of my upstairs neighbour is just getting into mtb and is thus looking for a hardtail, not particularly retro as he wants decent brakes and 3 - 4 inches of front travel. Anybody got a bike in 19 - 20 inches theyre trying or want to sell. I think his budget might be a couple of hundred :D I reckon this could be good territory for Big Eck and his boutique scrapyard

theres nothing in my scrapyard that i'd sell for as much as 200 quid

i have that saracen but it'll never be mint or anything.........

Kaiser, any photos of the snow tyres?

I'm thinking of ,making some too -
I was going to use gaffer(duct) tape to line mine does that not work?
Did you use little bolts or are screws secure enough?

Will get some pics up tomorrow, I used a tioga XC extreme tyre. It has 100 side knobs, I fitted 20 3mX16mm countersunk screws on each side. I then covered the screwheads with ductape. Were I went wrong was the tube bit, I got impatient and fitted a tube with the carcass of another tube. This probably fell away and wasnae to clever to start with. I shall probably run more ductape and try to get a downhill tube.

Try one of those retrofit tyres lining plastic strips used to prevent punctures or even a strip of fabric. Basically anything that softens the screw heads edges.

Snow tyre would be good for the drum at anytime of the year to dig into thode roots

woot tis snowing again :) might get a chance to use my snow tyre/s, or do I finish the 29er? :?

No,l but double sided carpet tape could sort that for you. It is so incredibly adhesive that it is pretty much one shot that you have to get the placement right, although if you apply the tape to the tyre first it could work well.
