MacRetro chat and rides thread

I found my 18t Boone cog badly listed on eBay. It was new and cost me just over £30 with the postage. A rare bit of eBay good fortune for me. I took it as a sign and bought a lotto ticket that afternoon. Alas no luck on that front.

you promised that THAT chain was history if I got rid of the black spoke protector on the fat- I've upheld my bit of the bargain.......
I only said I would consider losing the chain. Therefore, I have decided that a period of public consultation shall now take place to allow a full and frank dialogue with concerned retrobikers. Duration: 1 ride. Location: Dunkeld. Please raise your objections there.

:D

any of you lads got a black 26.4 seatpost going spare? Not sure I trust the one on the unibomber.
Hmmm, maybe... I bought a 26.2 seatpost today, was planning on trying it on the Stumpy, which is 26.4 too. If it works (anybody any idea if I can get away with that?), then I'll have a spare post.

Oh aye, looking forward to seeing the Yo not being garaged queen. Good man!

!

Not ideal, i'd wrap a bit of coke can round it (with plenty of grease to stop corrosion) as a shim, if you stick it in and mash up the clamp seattube will be pinched in at the top and post will be wiggling about 00.2mm further down.

not sure kaiser overtightened the post last night and stripped the nut- pretty crappy post so might just get another nut from B&Q rather than more dosh- must curb my spending

swapped over the fat spindles last night and the yo and crank clearance is much better now  (cooks might be on the cards later on this year) upshot is the fat chance's rings are now pretty close to the stay but chain suck will never be one of this babies problems. Found quite a bit of water in the BB so it would seem that it is worth taking the spindles out periodically and drying should be part of the routine- press in BB you got to love them
