nothing mad on the horizon esp compared to you fellas- just get all the bikes running and then relax

 shoooore kid sure

No more for me this year. Or next. Just want to get the SAB built up. Going to focus more on riding next year and stop mincing about in the man cave.

The Ken, says there is nowt worth riding of a trail centre like nature near him and he's right. However in a more Thrunton like way there is Pitmedden Forest on the border of Perthshire and Fife.

Looks entertaining much like Blair Adam I linked to earlier. Tnega mentioned it to me when we were battling the Pentlands with Big eck and ZigZag.

This mtb-routes-scotland site has loads of rides ideas for us to try out. Some of the Highlands ones seem to comprise of a slog up a munro with a high adrenalin descent, definitely need to get a bike set up with discs

This could be a good winter for riding :D

it is without wheels- the wheels are in the local bike shop but they may have seized nipples (oh err!) and if they need a total rebuild then they may need to go back :(

have some less bling wheels so almost there

Quick question, would the univega suffer if I put on 80 mm forks thinking of putting some bombers on it?

I would say no. It will change but not nessecarily for the worse

Pitmedden looks not bad, I'll reccy it when work quietens down a bit, it used to be an offroad landrover/quad bike site years back, nice area. Could also do kinoull hill on the other side of the tay with lunch at a pub in-between.

Picked up the KHS frame:

Purple metallic paint with wee green flecks. Not bad nick at all, fair few chips on the front forks, bit of chain suck and cable rub, couple of the decals with a bit of rubbing too. Came with:

X-Lite seatpost clamp
Shimano BB (no idea if it's XT or not)
Tioga Master DL headset (was hoping that it was XT)
XT 736 top pull front mech
Kalloy seat post

He also gave me a set of mismatched wheels - rear mavic x221, Deore M510 hub. Front mavic 238, acera parallax M290 hub. Also IRC Piranha Pro tyre. Not a bad haul for £31.

Very nice bloke, likes his bikes and then some - used to work in a bike shop and did a lot of MTBing BITD till he bust his collar bone in 4 places. Still got 3 bikes - A very nice Fuquay single speed crosser, Fuquay MTB with a repaired chainstay, and a late 50's roadie (Flying Scotsman?). He's still got some bits and bobs up in the attic too - reckons he's got some White Industries & Middleburn cranks up there, some forks, seat posts... Used to own a Ti Dean and a Gunnar.

Also recommended the Stirling North Third for riding, he helped build some of the original tracks, says that it has been sanitised in the past few years, but still worth a ride. The scary cliff trail sounds, well, scary - will have to check it out.

Looks good, just need to chop your legs down and you have a cracking bike- got great reviews bitd and looks classy too. Sounds like a good man to get to know, get your cranks out for the lads!
