Looking ofrward to the rockhopper ZZ, I bet its not that big either, as in outlandish velo sized.

Straight-ish forks would be wicked.
Straight=insane :shock:

Yup I think so too :) keeping my eye out for a cheap pair of P2's

Kaiser, as regards stem, are we talking roadie quill stem with 26mm clamp or 25.4mm. Also although straightbladed fork unlikely what steerer length and threaded or unthreaded.

Velo

V mtb size 25.4 would be good, realising how slim a chance this would be too. Straight bladed 1 1/8" threaded would be good.

To add to that if you see any silver bullhorn bars these would be nice and any long 180mm cranks in silver.

In fact V I'll post a wanted for the stem and forks, you know how much of a fussy bugger I am

The long cranks, roadie or mtb though and the bull bars would be nice :) :)

I've got some 1-1/8th threaded P2's - just fitted them to miniKens 46er frame, look quite good ;)

it's these... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... fe=sidebar

If you come across any Orange f7 forks with the right length steerer I would be willing to swap. Although they are due me another £5er on top for the fitting of the crown race.

ZigZag, I'm not sourcing a Suntour mech just for you to strip out one bolt, thats just wrong
Bodge a bolt or something, suntour rocks
What, and ruin the good looks of my minty new bike with a nasty bodge? Oh wait...

In thinking about it, if the rear hub is on its way out, I may just 7 speed/Shimano it until I can rebuild or get a replacement for it. Might be getting a bit ahead of myself though... first things first, get bike.

Kaiser, this is just typical, you tell me your going to source a set of Kona P2's so don't bother looking and first thing I see at the Bike Station is a set of Kona P2's. I have left them there but can go back on Saturday if your interested. They're 1&1/8th threaded, dark metalic grey and have Joe Murray stickers on them with canti bosses and mudguard eyelets. Did not measure steerer but looks suitable for 18" framed bike.

ZigZag, there was no Suntour mechs for you to vandalise but if my one is acceptably less scruffy than the one on the Hardrock then a swaps possible provided yours works. I'm not bothered about aesthetics or bodges as I'm sure your now aware.

Also if your feeling bike daft in the future I have a Trek 8500 alloy frame from 1990 in 20" that I raced at SSUK09. I think it would suit you better than me and its dead cheap ;)

Returned my Raleigh Alaska to near original spec, including rubbish BMX style tyres, it does not look right in any other way  I am definitely going to die in the Pentlands on Sunday

Why do old bikes not have standard sized bits. I've searched the Bike Station top to bottom over several weeks for a 26mm diameter post for my Falcon Pathfinder. Looks like I may have to buy new and even thats difficult, any of you'se guys got a 26mm diameter post.

Velo

Velo perchance did you ask a price? And if its not too much trouble and your going back in I'd be interested :)

no post velo sorry, and get some decent tyres on the bike man, bad enough you are going with a "raily" or whatever they are called but at least try and give yourself the ability to stop- there is mud on them there hills!
