MacRetro chat and rides thread

V - just had another look at this and sussed what its crying out for

Unless you're in love with drop bars, stick on a set of straights with bar ends, or better a one piece job if you can get one, like track bars. Now that would be one intimidating road machine (after a fashion) and if not white, make it matt black 8) Do everything to retain the BSA headtube logo. Scary.

Feel the Force

Mr Panda,

The BSA looks brilliant, all I have to do is respray the stays and polish 8)

Sorry Dr S, no £25 for you but I'll keep you in mind as I may have a frame in need of a future powder coat.

Decided I'll stay retro with spec, Suntour band on shifters, either Suntour or Shimano front and rear mechs, 54/42 front chainrings 14-28 5 speed freewheel, wheels as yet to be built on possibly Maillard hubs, Continental or Michelin tyres, Mafac brake levers and Mafac or Weinman centre pull brakes, Black cork tape on possibly randoneur bars (slight back & up sweep touring bar very comfy). Might replace headset with something steel and italian but B/B will be cartridge likely shimano.

None of above set in stone but gives idea of what I'm aiming for :D

I'm going to be slower than the modern boys but should be comfy over distance and roadside fixes are easier.

Cheers

Will do  , will be ordering the rims for it next week, i'll need to get them built onto the hubs, Gazz has a pair of cranks i can maybe use, need to get a BMX chain, that's about it i think.

Pretty sure it'll be a beast :)

have to agree that the klunker idea is cool dr s bike was uber cool.

I am loving the TDF- mind you it looks like we'll need to wait til the alps for some yellow jersay action- however not ready to get into the roadie scene just yet.

get a picture up Jimi.

Any one of you guys have a 1 inch quill stem (silver), I will have a flexstem up for sale if the pace fits the Orange.
