Weekend
Hi all
Quiet weekend up here, doing the usual chores both here and getting things sorted for work getting busy.
Noticed yesterday that Heathers 98 Stumpy had a flat tyre, so sorted that and took it for a ride. Just a short one round the woods and shore near home, very tame and sedate but it was a gloriuos afternoon. So good in fact I went home and grabbed my 88 Stumpy and went back round the loop to compare them, well, I just love riding it but thought I may as well compare them.
When I changed over to my older one it felt immediately 'relaxed' compared to the later model, geometry as well as position with the old style high lift stem etc. No urgency like the later model and even when pushed didnt get twitchy. On the old model I could go as fast, if not faster and yet felt like I was just cruising. This feeling of 'security' on the older one could have been because I ride it more than anything else, or because it fits perfectly, feels instantly set up with everything falling to hand regardless of what I have been riding previously.
I would even go as far to say its the best all round bike I have ever ridden, whether retro or modern. I can ride in snow, sun, mud any manner of shite and I dont think I have ever hoped off it without a grin.
heres a couple of pics:
Anyway, today had some work to sort so no riding, maybe later after I get the dogs out on the way home.
Hope everyone had a decent one and the weather was kind.
Jamie
