Sounds like a good build 8) I have also been running a few ideas but will leave off for a while  I like the idea of a sound bike but artificially distressed. Try to get it under 30lbs as well, oh and singlespeed.

I think we should have a shonky bike meet sometime in the autumn, a clunker is a bike built for mtb that was not primarily designed for the purpose, it would be a laugh

Well i've bought one now :) , went for the 18" as i'm pretty sure they are measured centre to top, will definetely be single speed, as minimalist as possible in fact.

Will keep an eye on that coaster brake, going to get a pair of Halo rims, changed my mind about the disc on the front, going to use frog leg canti's, will need a 36 hole front hub, a four finger brake lever, a Brooks saddle and a pair of cranks.

any of you guys see this ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0358232005

i'd have it if it was a little closer................

That's an absolute bargain  , pretty hardcore with just a coaster brake though

He was willing to courier it so 25-30 for a courier but still a cheap thing.

Bit late now though :(

Kaiser, what can I say but WOW, what skills, what finesse, a true mtb master at work captured in moving pictures for all eternity, any body would think your just riding Drumlanrig instead of something really difficult like.............Oh, sorry you are riding the Drum, err thats a bit embarrasing

I'll get my coat, sorry

We thought of you velo as that stretch of trail was just after the switchback that will forever be known as "velo's brakes". The black was a good technical climb with even more roots, if such a thing was poss.

Jimi, you need to get the bike together quick smart- I think the next meet should be a clunker/shonktastic get together.

Gazz, I'm all for a shonk meet but must point out a shonky bike is not just a battered old mtb you have not polished but works perfectly well as an mtb. A shonky bike or clunker is something that is not an mtb that has been converted for off road riding. Marks potential cruiser or my converted Rudge roadster or Dr.S's 1930's clunker are what its about not just a roughly thrown together scruffy stumpjumper :D
