Long term unemployed to be asked to give back something

Who has a 160 inch plasma screen, certainly not any unemployed I know,so I can only guess that is also a part of sensationalist crap highlighted by a corporate media, a case of one might, so it stands all must more brainwashing no doubt.

My wife works for the council as an outreach worker - pretty much every family on benefits she goes to see has

a)a plasma screen tv
b)ps3/xbox360/wii delete as applicable
c)full ashtrays
d)take away menus everywhere

It's not sensationalism, it's the truth! Don't ask me how they pay for it all, but if nothing else there's always money for fags!!!

I am asking how they pay for it.

You can't make ridiculous statements like that based on second hand anecdotes without any explanation. (well you can but don't expect to be taken seriously)

How could I possibly afford all you describe on less than £65pw disposable income. To give you an idea of the effect of such poverty I can't even afford to have a bath as often as I would like or even to flush the loo every time I use it. After no2's only or I can't afford the water bills.

Perhaps I could manage easier if I didn't keep a bike on the road! (or eat)

Yeah, fags, I smoke, I didn't before this situation but I do now and it is a right bugger to get off, but it has it's advantages, for it quells hunger,as a result I generally eat every couple of days, never takeaways, but what the majority of the poor eat in the world, rice, bread, cous cous or pasta. The result I guess, is a catrbohydrate rich diet, I am actually eating quite healthily as my body responds to carbs better than any other diet.

But yes, your statement about families on the scrounge might be true, for it is kids that swing it, have kids and on benefits you are made, that is the people that are targetted by government and media, but unfortunately the singles get tarred with the same brush and let me tell you, it is very different for singles.

I was told by the council a few years ago that if I wanted to better my situation on benefits, then I must shack up with a woman who has kids for then more will become available, including social housing or at least housing of a standard suitable for the bringing up of children.

I am in shock as I actually agree with you :shock:

A good friend of mine who has worked continuously for twenty five years has now found himself out of work (because of imported labour) and he is single with no kids and he really does struggle......but he still went on a three thousand pound cruise this year but paid for before he was made redundant,now he has to live on about sixty pounds a week and they keep giving him interviews at the minimum wage in norwich .......add fuel costs onto the work and he will be living on less than he is now.............very difficult problem to sort out this :?

The eating thing is easy, stuff routine, just eat when you need to, if you smoke you can extend that time period, but food, forget the supermarkets, especially tesco and go to the places the immigrants shop at and get the deals as well as the interesting experiments in cans that one can't understand what is written on them and fifteen kilos of rice for £10, keeps me going a couple of months. I have found the Polish shops to be very good value and have wondered why it is they can import Polish taste and sell it cheaper than British taste in supermarkets.

My motorcycle I cannot afford to run, as I need to save up for my CBT, then insurance tax etc, so even a 125cc is prohibitive to me at the moment, thank god I have a decent pedal cycle.

I work hard and cant save any money at all :roll:

and the smoking thing...give up and start buying meat otherwise you will be a burden on the nhs in a few years as well :roll:
