Lightest Steel Frame?

Following on from the Columbus tubing thread, I've recently picked up Columbus Spirit tubed Italian frame for next years day to day build. With chrome chainstays it's 1550gr with no bits on it, 54cm. Which is about the lightest steel frame I've ever owned except for a Lemond 853 (1483gr) but that was teeny at 50cm.

What's your lightest steel ride? I'm hoping to build this into a sub 17lbs road bike with full carbon fork.

I've heard some of the SBDU 753's were under the magic 1500gr..

Higher end Dedacciai tubing makes for a light frame. My 58cm Atala build is about 8kg. Fillet brazed ZERO MCDV6 HT. 10spd Record and a light wheelset help quite a bit! I have considered putting a carbon fork on this, but I love the balance of the chrome too much.

Not super light, but for a benchmark, 1992 Panasonic ex team frame in Tange Prestige comes in at few grams north of 2kg for a 58. (Fork 700g)

Roberts Master Pro of unknown tubing 54cm 1.7 KG frame only although my Raleigh Lightweight 653 is about the same.

This Raleigh 753 with Assos rims and the ludicrous light CLB brakes with Walter components is weighing in at 7.6kg! No sign of any carbon whatsoever

Ah, you're not familiar with the French numbering system, it's 7.9kg... Still pretty good though for a single chainwheel set up with Giards

Experience tells me not to trust a manufacturer for bike weight.

Or most other features...

There's an acceptance of a certain level of dishonesty in advertising that varies with period and nation/culture.
That's certainly a surprising weight to achieve with the equipment of the period and function pictured.
Is it a coaster brake?

Sadly I'd need to hang it on the scales to believe it
