Let’s settle this....

Re:

always thought it was hay hay, but have heard high high, actually unsure, i would ask the rep but sometimes when i ask him he just says "i don't know" then rolls his eyes.

he's a mate, he's only 30ish, so doesnt give a crap when i ask! bloody old bugger is what he's thinking!

i asked about some other names, he said the Kona Unit got called the Unit because some one in a sales meeting asked "how many units did we sell?" and someone took the piss and decided to call a bike that.

also, the new Honzo ESD, that's apparently "extra slack dude" because some one said we want this frame extra slack dude in a design meeting.

Re:

There's an acute accent on the 'e' in their logo, so it's probably French derivation and the best phonetic approximation an anglophone could hope for would be 'ran-glay'.
..but then we have to realise that 'Notre Dame' (notra dahm) is pronounced 'noder daym' by Usanians.

Ask a French person.. if you can still get to one..

I still pronounce Tange as tanj, even though i know its pronounced differently. I doubt most people would know what i am on about if i pronounced it correctly, and as for Ringle, i pronounce that ringul, again due to most using the English pronunciation and not understanding what i am on about if i emphasize the accented e on the end  :)

Kona name pronunciations are all in their catalogues ;)

Yeah.. some things are wrong for so long that it's easier to just follow the crowd and keep doing them wrong... if you want to get the part.. ;)
