Konas, lots of Konas.

Picked up the Kilauea after work today, everything's all good with it and it was bought off the original owner who used to race it, 3rd place at Guisborough no less.He was a really nice person and showed me a load of his photos from the racing days.
Its pretty much still original bar a different rim on rear, tyres and the saddle and the pedals have been changed to Deore XT comps.
Love the fact it still has the original bike shop sticker aswell.
Size wise i think it might be ok , i normally have 19 inch Kona frames but this doesn't seem much different, maybe swap the stem for a shorter Velocity one. Another thing i'm looking forward to finding out is, if there's alot of difference between this and the 93 Explosif.
Here's a couple of quick photos of it when i got it back.

Nice, got to love a '93 Kilauea, and those wheels are some of my favourite. Might be lower end of the range but mine are still going strong and smooth after all these years.

Never really thought i'd see the day where i would have both these Konas next to each other, patience does pay off in the end 😁
Update on the Explosif i've swapped the tyres for the correct A&B drives it would've had as stock.

Yep, I'm so glad i've managed to get another one again and with the added bonus it was from the original owner like the Explosif. I could see talking to him how special the bike meant to him when he was talking about why he bought it and racing it. He even helped me put it on the van, i sort of got the feeling he didn't really want to let it go but like he said it was never gonna get used again and was glad it was going to a collector and not a strip and flipper.
Out of curiosity mate what rims are on yours are they Ukais or Weinmans?

A couple of tweaks made to the Kilauea.
Found a shorter Velocity stem with more rise, my back was saying your having a laugh with the long 0° rise stem lol. I had some uncut 165 bars so on they've went with my favourite grips.
The seatclamp was to big so found a 93 one in one of the boxes so that's all sorted and swapped the q/r skewers for some Shimano ones which would've came with Deore LX hubs.
So for the time being that's all i'm doing with it, i'll have a few bike rides and see what it's like compared to the Explosif and then it will be stripped down for servicing and ocd cleaning, happy days 😊

Not totally sure on who made them, have Ukai in mind but could be wrong, just have the 399 decals on.
