Kona Hot Serial Number List - update 05/11/24

Just picked up a charming patina laden Hot! Pretty excited to finally have a TET built frame land in my hands!

19” Kona Hot , TET 153
Black w/ integrated seat clamp, triangle dropouts and seatstay u-brake

Apparently originally raced by a sponsored Kona racer from Whistler whose name I do not know…

Brilliant! Thanks for sharing. This week we've had new additions to all of the Kona SN lists apart from the Caldera list...so here's hoping 🙃 🙏

These are excellent pictures as well, all of the specific identifiers are clearly shown that make it a 1991 model and not a 1990 or 1992. #153 sounds well into production but from our lists perspective, this is an early one. We only have 10 on records that are earlier.

TET 153 - 19" 1991 Black - Integral Welded Seat Post Clamp, Triangle cut-out Dropout. Seat-stay U-brake mounts.

I'll see if I can find out more about who that rider might have been.

Well I think I can help out there, I have a red '97 Caldera frame with S/N CA9609126 (19 inch) which is not currently in the list. I also have a '94 Haole with unique original paint (two tone purple/burgundy) with S/N B55077 (55cm), and a '96 Ku with a blue lightning paint job (which I am 95% sure is original), S/N K09606008 (18 inch).

It's time to get them on the register, so when I have a chance to get them out I will take some pics and post on the S/N list threads.

Would love to see those pics! All dream bikes and very interesting additions to the body of Kona knowledge.

Again, really looking forward to seeing the details! I'll add them to the lists shortly but I can tell you the Haole is the earliest 1994 we have on the list. It's a similar story for the Ku, whilst not the earliest, it's the earliest in that SN format for 1996. The Caldera makes it 12 recorded worldwide 👍

Sneak peak of the Haole in a previous life, the only picture I have as it was featured in an Instagram post from Kona. I only have the frame and forks (the correct Kona shark forks, rather than the carbon ones in the picture) so it is a long term project to build it up. I'll try to get all 3 out of storage over the weekend for some photos.

Omg, totally derailing the HOT thread, but this is gorgeous. I love the paint scheme. is that a fade on the down tube, hard break top tube, then raw Ti seat and chain stays? This needs it's own thread.
