greetings all,

long time lurker here & finally had something post worthy :

I recently acquired this fine specimen & will be posting a serial # pic as soon as it arrives. will be keeping it largely intact, although those bars & stem are gonna be going immediately. am also thinking about losing the Bomber and just going w/a Project 2, as I will likely never be able to find or afford a '91 Explosif in my size or price range - I don't really think I'll be doing any serious riding on it anyways, tbh. all that being said, I do have a question or two for any helpful bike geeks out there :

1) what did Race Face call their aluminum flat (very low rise???) bars back in the late '90's- early '00's? been racking my brain trying to remember...same question for their head set. I can remember all their other component names easily enough, but not those two, for some reason.

2) Race Face System vs Prodigy : which was "better"? failing that, which one was lighter?

many thx in advance, llama

also, any input regarding stem length/rise to preserve/enhance those sleek old Kona hardtail lines would also be greatly appreciated. I am 5 "7 & the frame is "17...;)

Thanks, myself and @Mortonm spotted this one a while back. It's defo a 97 Altitude built Hot judging by the drop-outs as far as I can tell, so it should start with HO and probably 96 after that.

I reckon it warrants it's own build thread so you can keep us all informed and up to date with your progress 👍 One point, if you're going to ride this in anger, keep the Bombers. Simply the best fork ever made in my humble opinion.

Nice pickup! Had this been a 19 it would be in my garage! Maybe even had it been closer to myself. Enjoy!!
