thats really a nice paint job and this time I fully agree with a respray. Normally I'm defending original paintwork, but here chapeau.

Thanks. I resisted the obvious temptation to go for a brand new colour scheme, tried to stay as close to original as possible. Very happy with the outcome....

Re:

Took the brake barrel adjustor off an XT pair of levers. Is it right how the cable is sitting? It's a kind of dish shape as opposed to snug around the cable end. Don't think it will impact the performance much of the already shit cantis, but just wondered.....

Re: Kone FireMountain, 1995. Lockdown rebuild....

I also saved up my pocket money for a Fire Mountain in 1995. I assume my dad still has it in his shed somewhere.

Re:

Brakes - I'd forgotten what a faff it is fitting and tuning cantis. These weren't my first choice as thought they'd have too-wide a fit; pretty happy with them though. Back works a treat, front is spongy as you like...

Chain fitting reveals a longer BB spindle is needed for the new(old) crankset, so another one of those is on the way....

Finishing touches...

Waiting for front derailleur to finish this off, but couldn't resist a test run....

Cheers, decent shout on the saddle. A tiny bit of orange and a match for my white toe-clips is almost enough. I bought another black saddle that I thought had orange accent but turned out to be red, so my saddle game needs some work..... or, maybe I get some white grips and brake cables...! :)
