KK, Ku & Hot frame weights

I wouldn't place too much emphasis on the catalogue or press releases & likewise the scales they used to weigh these things. I know we come at these facts with an eye on trading standards or whatever, but having spent some time working for a bicycle manufacturer, they don't place quite the same emphasis in weights or specs as the buying public do sometimes. Frame tubing stickers being another example.
When that pamphlet was printed I cannot imagine Kona thought anyone would still have it in the year 2024 let alone be discussing the accuracy of the facts printed within.
Any catalogue usually states a right to vary specifications as or when necessary.

My 96 Altitude Hot in 19 inch weighs 1990g

My 97 Ku in 19 inch weighs 1550g

The ku is remarkably light for an alloy frame. In comparison anodised zaskar in 16 (measures 18) is 1850g so a painted version would be even more.

Hmmm, i mean 3.4lbs for an alloy frame is decent, wish i’d weighed my Hot before I built it as catalog states 3.3lbs which is 0.1lbs lighter than the Ku of the same year (1996).

I still find that hard to believe and based on your assessment @d8mok it doesn’t seem to be true
