JMC FSR

I've posted something similar on the eBay link page, but:

Anyone know why this bike has Mavic rims, and not the Z21 rims I would expect it to use?

I know that Team spec bikes occasionally varied from 'catalogue' spec due to mid season sponsorship changes, personal rider endorsements etc, but not aware of any tie-up between Specialized and Mavic?

Seems unlikely either that Mavic sponsored JMC directly?

What am I missing?

Cheers,
BB.

Re:

I think Jason used Mavic 121 ceramics for all of the 94 season - pretty sure that's what was on the bike at Shrewsbury for the National Championships and Vail for the Worlds? I would guess it was simply rider preference due to the improved braking performance of the ceramic coating?

Jason smashed alot of wheels. He would have used what was around.

Yes, but he was a sponsored rider not a privateer, and this was a competition bike not a casual rider...

I think the previous posts clear things up nicely for my curiosity.

Unless you know any different of course?

Cheers,
BB

I saw a lot of what Jason had on his bikes. Salsa, Hardisty, GT and Specialised. I often had his Specialised bikes in my workstand when he was back home in Newcastle. He wasn't a fan of them, he had loads of bad luck with them. I'm just telling you what I know from personal experience, that is all. Not everything you read on a spec sheet actually happens. Not everything that you would expect to see on a sponsored riders bike, you would actually see; Maybe you would in photo shoots but not necessarily in races.

You obviously saw his SPECIALIZED bikes so frequently that you remembered how to spell it correctly ;)
