Is your first LBS Still going? Where was/ Is it?

All my bikes came from "The Sensible Bike Company" in Liss Hampshire.

It was run by a great guy called Tizzy who let me & my mate Dave borrow a Cannondale MTB Tandem with Judys to do a sponsered ride on not to mention a Trek "Y" & Marin FS for an all day test ride...Top Bloke :)

Unfortunately no longer there.

Also used to got to Moto Sport at Smithbrook Kilns & a really small but cool shop that was a Rocky Mountain dealer in a small village near Dorking in Surrey but can't think of its name :x

'The New Bike Shop' in Workington, Cumbria was my first lbs. This has since moved a couple of doors down in to an old bank and is called... 'The Bike Bank'. Brilliant shop. Far too much money spent in there over the years.

John Geddes in widnes was where I bought my everyday stuff, bought my Raleigh Dynatech quantum from there. I used to be sponsored by Claude Crimes in Chester so used to get lots of stuff from them too. Other than that there was a stack of decent shops in my old area like Frodsham and Northwich.

Ken Ellerker Cycles for help advice and better prices in Hull
Though tended to hang around
FreeTown Sports when it opened in Hull, before it moved to it's current location, as it was more central and had better bits nearby to play around even if the people running it where classed as 'knobs' by every that we knew.

Both still there.
And plenty of kit still running that I bought from both places.

There are others Cliff Pratt, Jobes, Rob Winstanley (could have recently closed?), Kingston Cycles ....

Though I would say I tended to buy my groupset parts and things from an Importer nr Snaith, Goole at the time.... as it was much cheaper
 .

I have no idea what any are really like now as I just don't bother with them much now.

Colins Cycles Swaything Southampton, long gone :(
Peter Hargroves Cycles Bitterne Southampton, gone, still a branch in Winchester I think.
GA Cycles Shirley Southampton, still going. Run by Gary, the worlds most miserable man, until that is you get to know him/spend some money in his shop, then he's quite nice really ;)

I remember GA Cycles, didnt use it much but remember them being a big Orange Dealer?

Stuart

My first bikes e'g Raleigh strika etc came from Halfords (not tech a LBS).

I lived in a village so i never had a LBS as such, my closest was Rays Cycles in Gillingham, Dorset. A Raleigh main dealer, got my Raleigh Mirage from there.

Had a good one i used to hang about in when i could ride to the next town(Sherborne) The Cycle shack (now gone!)

Yeovil cycle centre, sort of still going but on a much larger scale.

I'm now re-living my youf at Mountain high in Pangbourne, berks. Was in there yesterday eating bakewell tart and a cup of tea, didn't buy anything just went in for a chat, now thats what you call a good LBS. I will add that most of the time i spend a small fortune in there!!

your lbs

drakes cycles(leeds).

still going after....25 years or so.has moved address jut once(500yds).
a family run effort, and you can often detect that in the service you get!
the guys now dress in casual modern pit-style tee's but i remember when
they were dressed in cardboard brown overcoats, like arkwright in 'open all hours' :D :D
