Wow, yeah I bought my beloved '90 Astar in Butlers, Southsea, Mitch Dall was the owner, couple of mates got a work experience placement in there BITD, then yeah they moved and started selling some weird stuff (also had a second branch in Horndean doing triathlon and other sports stuff) and then evolved into what is now the biggest cycling supplier in Europe (apparently) - Wiggle.

Yeah I miss the original shop too, was a cool place to hang out BITD.

Can someone help with a query???

Myself and a fellow retrobiker were chatting about this very subject the other day, and we remembered a cool LBS located in a place called Smithbrook Kilns (sussex/surrey on the A272) but we can't remember what the shop was called????

Also, they used to have regular jumble sales on site, where you could have a pitch and flog your tasty bits.

Can someone please help me what the hell it was called???????????

Steve

That would be Moto Sport (I think!).....got my first Ringle Twisters from one of their bike jumbles....remember Middleburn were there selling slight seconds, got a couple of chainrings off them :)

Cheers

.

Colins Cycles Swaything Southampton, long gone :(
Peter Hargroves Cycles Bitterne Southampton, gone, still a branch in Winchester I think.
GA Cycles Shirley Southampton, still going. Run by Gary, the worlds most miserable man, until that is you get to know him/spend some money in his shop, then he's quite nice really ;)

far to old to remember what my local bike store was in late 60s but i discovered moose cycles in colliers wood in south london when i bought the 10 th annversary clockwork

greg , the owner, then and now ,stopped stocking orange soon after but still in business and it is still a great great place-knowledgable helpful and specialising in high end mtb gear as well as communting bikes and gear which is bread and butter for a london local bike store
