Is your first LBS Still going? Where was/ Is it?

spen velo in cleckheaton...still ticking over last time i passed which was about 18 months ago.

Mine was Bournemouth Mountain Bike Center.
I popped in there a few months back after spotting an early 90's Stumpy hung-up in the window and met retroyetirigid from here on the forum :D

Bought my First Mountainbike (cannondale sm400) from
Robin Williamson Cycles in Stockbridge, Edinburgh
They got taken over by Alpine Bikes years ago, shop moved 100 yds up the road to bigger premises, thin the original shop is now a Bang & Olufsen shop.
( I only shop in classy hoods ;) )
Also used (bitd) Edinburgh Bicycle, one of the lads up there, Ged, was about 6' 10" and had what looked like a 26" Cannondale in pink!
Ah , them was the days

Gc

barrettoes bikes in plymstock, plymouth and devon cycles in the city centre, also bike on royal parade, saw my first hoffman bmx there and got my first ever credit notice lol

Ged is still there Enid, I see him sometimes on my now occasional visits. he had a huge Gate of a racer in my day.

Hot Pursuit in Totnes. Sill going, but in name only. The original location on the high street, (used to be Wheeler Sports) closed when the manager (John Spur?) left. I believe a shop of the same name is now on the industrial estate a stone throw from Middleburn.

The other shop I favoured was more road orientated is I think still going: Colin Lewis in Paignton.

Is Middleburn in Totnes?

Yep, John Spur was the manager, with Jim 2nd in command. Retro Biker "petertreglown" works at the new Hot Pursuit, and they have one in Newton Abbot as well now.

Colin (an ex Tour de France rider) retired a while ago. Simon now runs Colin Lewis Cycles (and it's moved as well).

I used to work at Paignton Cycles. Gump used to race for them!

I used to shop at Chesil Cycles in Winchester and then went on to work in there whilst at college, ended up with some proper cool bikes and stuff. I used to also use Hargroves Cycles which was on City Road, I believe that is still there albeit on the other side of the road where a garage used to be.

Not there any more, I think its final location was on North Walls.

I think it was Middleburn, they had just moved in but weren't going to be trading from there.
Jim lives just down the road from my mum & dad so I see him every now and then. Is it me or did he look like Alec Stewart the wicket keeper?

Barretos' is where I bought my Kili Flier Comp in 1991.
