Is it really worth it?

Ever found yourself in a situation where you've found something you really want and know you'll love when you get it. But you're getting sh*t every direction while your doing it and it's just turning into a is it worth it question.

I just realised even if I buy my new frame I've got to buy brakes and a stem and bars and a seatpost clamp and tyres before it'll be how I planned it. Before I make it more than 1x9..

I've sold quite a few things cheaply to help fund it and I've got little else to sell. I'm debating selling up besides the bikes that were my dads TBH. It's costing too much and I'm getting nowhere.

Absolutely no income doesn't help either though but I know if I get JSA my parents will want atleast half of it for rent though they already get all of my DA which I see none of.

Get a nice frame........the bits can wait......nice frames can't.

I've had £3,000-£4000 bikes pass through hands every few months when i was in the trade.........i have no money now, but i got a Voodoo frame i love and some crappy bits that over time are getting better.

Frame 1st otherwise what's the point.

Don't give up on a dream just because its hardwork, as for the JBA, go for it 50% of something still betters your 100% of nothing, however you resolve it with your folks.

Why are they getting your DLA ? Of course I forget what age it flips at (and I don't know what age you are).
If you get JSA then get your parents to set up some official renting and you should be able to claim that as well.

But just concentrate on one bike at a time and do it slowly and buy cheap :) or at retro-prices-are-lower-meets if you can.

You're sponging off your folks, I bet you cost them more than the sum total of your DLA...

Are you not entitled to JSA?

While you're living with your parents you should be doing all you can to earn money to pay your way.

+1

Sorry!

Is DA DLA? Surely if claiming Disability Living Allowance you can't ride a bike or am I oversimplifying it?

DLA doesn't automatically exclude physical activities.

yes you are oversimplifying it, i had a friend with a bad back...he could still run and cycle but he would sometimes get such terrible pain he had to go lie down for the rest of the day. You'd be talking to him and all of a sudden he would be in pain to the point where he was crying and had to go lie down whilst popping serious painkillers.
