I've just discovered the Marin handlebar off the project bike is really short, at just 485mm. It's the original early 90s t6 marin lite bar so I'm gutted it's been cut. Two questions, 1stly why would someone chop it down SO much and 2ndly is it any use to anyone or should I take it to the tip?

That's pretty short but I've seen them shorter on some of the single speed commuter bikes in London. If you think about it you need 50mm for the stem another 100 for both of the break levers and then something to hold on to each side. You'd probably get down as far as 400mm if you tried hard. Fits perfectly between traffic.
