Imlach's Sweaty Hippie Funk Collection, adventure bikes, rusty rats, cruisers and other alt bastardisations of bicyclery

I am The Vandal Metalworks.
I was hoping you'd say that. Only just saw you pop up in my feed the other day. Love the stuff you're doing, saw a fair few people had mentioned concerns about flexing of the rear triangle. I'd be curious to see if it really is much of a problem, I doubt it. Maybe if I rode it with my good 130+- kg.

Thanks!

Yeah, I couldn't remember it feeling overly weakened when I cold set it after doing the modification and just to be sure I gave it a little squeeze and pull just by hand this morning and I honestly cant say that the deflection was anything out of the ordinary.

I might braze in some extra tubes anyway, I remember the loaner track bike I got at Meadowbank years ago was a lovely steel thing with braces between the chainstays and seattube and I've been looking for an excuse to replicate that.

Or I could add a whole mixte type tube as I did on my Flying Scot.

Very nice. I was trying to get a Danish shop to do some twin laterals at one point but they were based in Cph and it became too much of a hassle. Still something I'd consider sometime. How long have you been modding/building frames?

Think it must have been early 2019 that I got my oxy propane kit and built my first frame, the Giraffe is no14.

I'd done some small modifications with mapp prior to getting the oxy propane kit and now I've chopped and reworked more than I've built.
